About The Southern Gems

This is the southern masterpiece, a single long day that carries you from the shadow of Mount Ararat to the world's oldest known winery, through a canyon monastery carved from red cliffs, and finally into the healing mineral waters of Jermuk. We begin at Khor Virap, standing at the literal foot of the biblical mountain, then move into wine country at Areni, home to a 6,100 year old winery and a 5,500 year old leather shoe. From there we reach Noravank, framed by towering red limestone cliffs, before continuing south to Jermuk, a mountain resort town famous for its thundering waterfall and centuries-old thermal springs.
